ESPN To Produce 30 for 30 about the AWA Team Challenge Series

Following the positive response to the announcement of a 30 for 30 documentary about Ric Flair, ESPN have moved quickly to capitalise on the buzz by announcing a follow up - about the AWA Team Challenge Series.

Whilst many see it as an odd choice, ESPN spokesman Dan Gruntlhorn explained their rationale.
"We accept that there are more obvious and deserving choices for a 30 for 30 on a wrestling related topic, Bruno Sammartino, Kurt Angle, Barry Horowitz, the Brooklyn Brawler to name a few" He continued "But we took a real bath in the late 80's when we tried to get on the pro wrestling bandwagon and threw money at the AWA to broadcast their shit-show, so now we want to recoup some of that cash. We still own the footage, and they owe us big time"
The director plans to focus on the drama and intrigue of the series that pitted teams with names that would embarrass division 3 rollerball, - Barons Blitzers , Larry’s Legends, and DeBeers Diamondcutters (the latter of which sounds like a male porn performers alter ego).

Through the use of inventive editing and complete disregard for the facts, ESPN hope to inject some drama into the series that provided a comically tragic end to a once proud organisation that whimpered out of existence with Jake Milliman doing something unnatural to a turkey, on a pole.
The release is planned for sometime in 2017.
